THE HARVEST

The 7 steps to a harvest in the time of Messiah & how it applies to us today.

Ever wondered how G_d uses harvesting wheat in the time of Yeshua as an example of harvesting the Body of Messiah today. Read below and see for yourself, I have found that G_d has a unique way of conveying messages through His word. See how it applies to us today, everything is done for a reason. I pray you enjoy.

1. Chosen – bachar – to appoint
The wheat is chosen for the harvest to be cut down. We are chosen by G_d, His calling is on us.

1Peter 2:9 “But you are A Chosen people, the King’s kohanim, a holy nation, a people for G_d to possess! Why? In order for you to declare the praises of the One who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” CJB.

Act 9:15 “But get up and stand on your feet; for this purpose, I have appeared to you, to appoint you a *minister and “a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you; NASB

2. Sheaves – alum – something bound
The cut wheat is bound up tightly in sheaves so that it will stay together as one. G_d binds us together in Messianic community.

Hebrews 10:25 “not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” NASB

Mark 10:9 So then, no one should break apart what G_d has joined. CJB

3. Gleaning – laqat – to gather or pick up
As the cart or wagon would transport the sheaves to the threshing floor, some sheaves would fall off, the poor would run behind the cart and would pick up the ones that had fallen so they wouldn’t be left behind. As our brethren fall behind and drop away from the body of Messiah, He sends us back to retrieve them.

Romans 15:1 ” Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the powerless and not just please ourselves.” TLV

Acts 2:44 And all who believed were together, having everything in common. TLV

4. Threshing Floor (cattle/wheel-trod)
They would then put the grain on the threshing floor. Now cattle would walk on the grain as well as wagon wheels running over the grain to break or smash the hard-outer shell of the grain. Separating the wheat from the chaff. This is where most of us are today. G_d must crush our exterior shell (i.e. pride & ego), to expose his precious spirit inside us. Which is a sweet aroma to Him.

Mark 14:3 ” And while Yeshua was in Bethany at the house of Simon ha-Metzora, reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive oil of pure nard. Breaking open the jar, she poured it over His head. ” TLV

5. Winnowing Fork – zarah – to toss, cast away, scatter
Once the hard-outer shell has been broken, exposing the choice morsel inside. The harvester will take his winnowing fork and cast the grain into the air. The barn where the threshing floor is has two doors and is built so the wind will blow through the two doors. So, as he throws up the grain, the wind will carry away the chaff and leave the best part of the grain to fall to the floor. As the wind blows through the barn so the Rauch HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) blows through us. Cleansing us from our ugly worldly nature. With His breath we are cleansed.

Matthew 3:12 ” His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He shall clear His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn; but the chaff He shall burn up with inextinguishable fire.” TLV

6. Sifting – nuwph – to vibrate up & down or rock to & fro, shake, strike
Now the harvester will sift the wheat, even more so than before as he is still separating the very best from the undesirable. Our Lord Yeshua Messiah continues to sift through us searching to discard the undesirable through His Word.

Romans 12:2″ Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.” TLV

7. Bagged / Distribution – nachal – to inherit, to divide, be made to process
The final stage is bagging the grain and taking it out to the people for distribution. The finished product, grain Aka bread aka bread of life. After His refining process we are ready to go forth and distribute His Glory and His message to the ends of the Earth, in brotherly LOVE.

Acts 1:8″but you will receive power when the Rauch HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” TLV

John 13:34-35″ I am giving you a new command: that you keep on loving each other. In the same way that I have loved you, you are also to keep on loving each other. 35 Everyone will know that you are my talmidim (disciples) by the fact that you have love for each other” CJB
